Regarding the centre pages, very much prefer the black one. I think its been in brief discussion amongst a few that these pages should be put at the beginning following the contents as it works as a nice intro to the pieces of work.
That aside, I wanted to post up some of the feedback I collected on the 4/03/09 or possibly the 5th, it’s good to get an overview of how people feel this project went, for those who I didn’t see on this date, my apologies. Please do add your comments.
Liz:
- We all came together as a group with our ideas e.g structure of the book, cover etc.
- It was exciting to see the final images and looking forward to seeing the finished print.
- It helped working with others to complete deadlines, it relieved any unnecessary pressure and made it much more enjoyable.
- Big thanks to Joy and Rich for their help
Kyle:
- I enjoyed working within the group
Bess:
- I enjoyed designing the Index, working together with others to continue the theme
- Felt when the blog was used it was useful but found not everybody took advantage it
- Our individual designs for our double pages seem to fit as well as contrast well, with regards to style/colour etc.
Deb:
- The majority worked productively but some members missed meetings meaning they missed contributing to important decisions
- Like the design and it helped seeing the printed double pages, was a reward and meant we could easily see our goal being completed, exceeding my personal expectation/standard.
Rob:
- Due to time spent working on my own double pages I felt I wasn't able to contribute as much to the group as I would've liked.
- If I was to do this again I would participate more, keeping up-to-date with group development/progress and decision making
- Liked the Victorian/old style theme and cover idea by Jo
Joy:
- As a group we jumped into the action very quickly, very proactive
- We were democratic with lots of ideas being put forward
- We also have a good dynamic meaning people with strong creative views were respectful of group decisions
Rich:
- To much time was spent at the beginning on finishing the details e.g. book cover, pages numbers etc. but was resolved after a meeting discussion - see meeting notes
- Some people didn't respect deadlines set making it hard to complete work as Editor.
- Difficult with some that chose to re-design without willing to compromise work to fit time scale
- Not all were aware of the serious implications of not setting personal time plans/targets
- Majority of group provided work required, meaning we were able to complete overall deadlines that were in place
Myself(Rach):
- I think the design of the book is fantastic, with its blend and input from everyone’s creativity
- I enjoyed working within the group and believe despite a few people missing meetings along the way for a number of different reasons we were able to stay focused on achieving a great collaborative book.
- Loved having the opportunity to have an input on many of the decisions made, creating the end papers and contents using Lindys gorgeous border.
-I think a big thanks should go to everyone who put their extra time, effort and knowledge into this book, it was a big help to many and that shows in the book!-
Cheers Guys
Rach
Well done Rach
Great to see everyone's feedback, as a project its been a bit of an eye opener in many ways, i think we have all learnt from the experience, but one that we rose to the challenge and completed beyond our expectations. The group as a whole has worked extremely hard and this along with the extremely high calibre of work will be born out in the final printed book.
Thanks guys for a great effort.
Mike
